Daytime Emmy Awards

Soap fans suffered a tough blow with the cancellation of multiple daytime stalwarts in the past few years, but the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is restoring their status by making soaps some of the most-nominated programs at the 2013 Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards. With award show tickets, fans like you can celebrate the nominees and party with the winners.

This year, soaps represented four of the five most-nominated programs on daytime television. “The Young and the Restless” earned 23 nominations and helped make CBS the year’s most-nominated network. “The Young and the Restless” has won seven Emmys® for Outstanding Drama Series during its 40-year run, and the show is poised to take home plenty of trophies at this year’s award presentation. Three out of four outstanding lead actor nominees went to players on the show. Doug Davidson, who has played Paul Williams on “Y&R” for 35 years, has a good chance of winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He’s up against fellow “Y&R” actors Peter Bergman and Michael Muhney. Jason Thompson, who plays Patrick Drake on “General Hospital,” is also up for outstanding lead actor and is considered a favorite to win.

“Y&R’s” virtual monopoly over the Daytime Emmy® Award nominations continues in the best supporting actor and outstanding younger actor categories. Max Ehrich and Bryton James are both best young actor nominees for “Y&R.” In the supporting actor category, Jeff Branson and Billy Miller are competing against Bradford Anderson of “GH” and Scott Clifton of “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

The competition for this year’s Daytime Emmy® Awards is tough, especially in the drama category. While the actors have to battle it out to get an award, fans don’t have to fight for seats at the award show. Tickets to the 2013 Daytime Emmy® Awards and after-party gala are still available for the June 16th event, which will be taking over Hollywood and the Beverly Hilton. Half of “The Young and the Restless” will be there, and you could be there too when you get your Daytime Emmy® tickets from VIP Concierge.
