The MTV Movie Awards aren’t the kind of event that goes unannounced, so it was big news when the network said that the 2013 awards would be held on April 14 instead of early June. Everybody, mark your calendars, change the date and rush over to VIP Concierge to grab your 2013 MTV Movie Awards tickets. This change is great news for movie fans who will get to vote early, watch the ceremony sooner and see sneak peeks of unreleased summer films right now. Thanks to MTV, the summer film season officially began on March 5 when a team of MTV personalities helped announce the nominees. This year, MTV is celebrating its movie awards with six whole weeks of film-related, award-centric programming.
And there’s more good news about this year’s precocious award show. Rebel Wilson is hosting, who is even better, more exciting and funnier than Russell Brand, last year’s emcee. On April 14, inside the high white walls of Sony Pictures Studios, throngs of fans and oodles of stars will be walking the red carpet and gathering to celebrate 2012′s best, or at least most memorable, films. Last year had plenty of shirtless performances, on-screen kisses, villains and musical moments, and MTV has adjusted the categories accordingly.
The best part about the MTV Movie Awards is that fans get to vote for their favorite movies–not executives, the parents of MTV lovers or anyone else whose opinion does not matter. The bad part about the MTV Movie Awards, for fans, is that most people don’t realize they can buy tickets, waltz down the red carpet and slouch down in one of those big theater chairs just like the stars. If it was a secret, we’ve spilled the beans, because you can certainly buy tickets to this award show.
